Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation
ordered S. 311 to be reported without amendment favorably by a vote of
15-7. The bill now goes to the floor for consideration. As of

Salmon Economic Analysis

Legislation banning horse slaughter in State of Illinois -
Amends the Illinois Horse Meat Act. Provides that it is unlawful for
any person to slaughter a horse if that person knows or should know
that any of the horse meat will be used for human consumption and that
any person who knowingly does so shall be guilty of a Class C
misdemeanor. Status: Overwhelmingly passed by Illinois
General Assembly and signed into law by Governor Blagojevich on May
